Identifying Issues and Limitations

Discoverability Issues

One of the first problems identified is related to the plugin’s discoverability. The name begins with “IfElse Pages” instead of common keywords like “coming soon” or “maintenance.”

This makes it harder to find when searching in the WordPress plugin directory, even if the plugin offers useful features. As a result, its visibility and potential usage may be negatively affected.

Global Application Limitation

The plugin also includes a “Landing Page” section with two templates. One of them is a coDuring testing, it became clear that the “Coming Soon” mode is applied to the entire website. There is no clear option to restrict it to a specific page.

This creates limitations for users who may want to display a “Coming Soon” page only in certain sections of the site.

Navigation Loop Issue

While using the Light template, I added a button that links to a contact page within the same website. However, since the entire site is under “Coming Soon” mode, the link redirects back to the same page, creating a navigation loop.

This reduces the usefulness of the feature and may confuse users trying to access additional information.

Maintenance Mode Inconsistency

While testing the Maintenance mode, I was not able to see it properly reflected on the website. The “Coming Soon” page continued to appear instead.

This creates uncertainty about whether the feature is working correctly or if additional configuration is required, affecting user confidence in the plugin.

Overall Impact

Although the plugin provides useful features, these issues affect usability, clarity, and reliability. Improving these aspects could significantly enhance the user experience.

Conclusion

The plugin has strong functionality, but several usability and design limitations reduce its overall effectiveness. Addressing these issues would make the plugin more intuitive and reliable for users.
